Description
Wyszymor, also called bugaj is the spirit of the forest in Slavic folklore; friendly and helpful to those who respect forest rights, hostile and malicious for those who break them. They appear in many forms and three presented are:
szyszak - the smallest form of bugaj; resembles a pine cone with thin limbs and a small, triangular head. His eyes are yellow and his mouth small and round. The creature never closes them.
Bubacz - taller than a man; he wears wide-brimmed hat and his stiff hair stick out from under it like twigs.
szyszymor - the largest form of bugaj, a real giant. His skin once covered with pine resembling scales, now looks like cracked bark. The creature opens his yellow eyes only at night.
